History

A 8 year semi-pro veteran, Markus Younkin, had evolved his self taught graphic arts hobby into a graphic design company & most of it was due to the relationships built while doing business with semi-professional football teams and leagues. With the wealth of knowledge that was gained throughout this process, and a couple of years running the Ohio Outlaw AAA team, Markus realized that no league had ever truly had the players best interest in mind. After a conversation with now commissioner David Duncan (10+ years of semi-pro experience with the Cleveland Spartans, Cleveland Cobras, NEO Predators and Ohio Raiders), Dezmond Relaford (10+ years of semi-pro experience with the Cleveland Cobras, NEO Predators and Ohio Raiders) & ex-commissioner Joe Long (15+ years of semi-pro experience with the Columbus Fire) the Players Football League was born. The idea was to bring together a group of ex-players to run the league and finally do right by the players. After an instant classic in the first ever PFL championship between the 82 Chargers & AKC Pitbulls that resulted in a 46-38 double overtime with for the Pitbulls, the league rebranded to the Players Football Association and are primed and prepped to continue making leaps forward and doing whats never been done in semi-professional football.

In 2022 there was an agreement struck with the Alliance Football League and commissioner Matthew Sloan. The deal was for the AFL to rebrand into the Alliance Football Association in partnership w/ the PFA to not only play cross league games but to also create the first ever Players Alliance National Championship at the end of the 2023 season. We are looking forward to whats to come with this brand merger as we continue to elevate and change the game across all of developmental football.
